One year ago, on July 20th 2022, I started the craziest project anyone could think of: I founded a new country. Yes, you read that right - a country.
Nobody took the idea seriously and asked me if it was some kind of joke. I replied that yes, it was a joke but only in the same way all other countries are jokes. Then I showed them the territory which wasn't claimed by any of the countries they considered to be "serious" (UN member states), then presented them with a cryptographically signed founding document, forever stored on what is arguably the most secure blockchain mankind knows - in other words, the most solid founding document of a country in all history - but still their disbelief remained unshaken.
Not even treaties for recognition and cooperation signed with other micronations nor references to international conventions underlying Libernesia's foundation or its membership in international organizations nor any logical argument could change their disbelief and often mocking attitude towards this idea...
But no matter! On every first Friday of each month no more than 23 people with free spirits silently lit up freedom's torch at libernesia.org from wherever they were located around the world at that moment; a bizarre gesture understood by themselves alone.
